Shanghai Nanjing Plus 2025 “Exploring Perspectives on China-US Relations” Activity Series: Entering Hefei(2)

On October 13, 2025, the Shanghai Nanjing Plus delegation continued their itinerary within Hefei City, Anhui Province, successively visiting Gotion High-Tech Co. Ltd., Nio Inc. (Anhui), the University of Science and Technology of China’s Institute of Advanced Technology, and the Linxi Community, opening dialogue with relevant enterprises and entities.

The delegation party arrived at Gotion High-Tech Co. Ltd. (Gotion High-Tech) in the morning. Gotion High-Tech is a globally competitive supplier of new energy batteries and a green energy solutions services firm. Its main businesses include lithium iron phosphate materials and cells, ternary materials and cells, power battery packs, storage battery packs, and battery management systems, among others. Its products are widely used in passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, specialized vehicles, and other areas of renewable energy vehicles, and it provides green energy systems solutions for energy storage clients.

The first stop on the itinerary was the company’s first floor exhibition hall, where delegates listened to a comprehensive introduction of the company’s development history, its main areas of business, its international composition, and other aspects. Afterwards, the delegation engaged in informal discussions with company representatives.

The discussion session was hosted by Gotion High-Tech’s Deputy Director of the Chairman’s Office Jiang Chu, with Executive Vice-President for the Americas Business Unit Ruilin Chen serving as the main speaker. Deputy Head of Americas Business Unit Strategic Operations Peipei Bu and Government Affairs Manager Zhu Gao also participated.

At the session, Ruilin Chen first introduced a general summary of the company’s development and its overseas offices. During the question-and-answer session, the two sides opened a deep discussion centered around government policies supporting industry and opportunities and challenges of technological development for social governance. The delegates concentrated on the firm’s international programs, asking questions regarding differences between Gotion High-Tech’s operations in the U.S. and Argentina, which Ruilin Chen answered in detail one-by-one. The discussion had a thoroughly warm, honest, and transparent atmosphere, furthering the delegates’ understanding of the company as well as the industry as a whole.

Later that morning, the delegation party arrived at Nio Inc. (Anhui), located in Hefei’s Shushan District Economic and Technology Development Zone. Nio Inc., established in 2014, is a significant producer within China’s intelligent electric vehicle sector.

The delegation first arrived at the Nio battery swap station within the factory area, witnessing the electric vehicle battery swap process on-site. Afterwards, the group entered the vehicle production area under the guidance of relevant company leads, closely following the production line to learn about the stages of intelligent production for electric vehicles. Finally, they arrived at the delivery exhibition center, where various models of Nio cars were displayed. Interested delegates sat inside several of the cars, experiencing for themselves the results of Chinese electric vehicle technology.

That afternoon, the delegation party visited the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT) at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).

The delegates first listened to an introduction to the state of IAT’s work in the field of technology transfer and afterwards were led by a guide through the Innovative Results Exhibition. The exhibition hall contained a rich variety of exhibits, with the application systems for artificial intelligence and biopharmaceuticals particularly drawing the delegates’ attention.

Later in the afternoon, the delegation entered the Linxi Community located in Hefei’s High-Tech Zone, which has become an important gathering site for both students returning from abroad and highly talented foreign professionals. As the chief cosmopolitan community within Anhui Province, establishing the Linxi Community has in recent years bolstered the reputation of the city of Hefei and Anhui Province many times over.

The delegates first arrived at the Linxi Community’s foreign employee service station, receiving a general introduction to the community and talking with the station residents. Afterwards, the group walked to the community food hall, interacting with residents participating in community activities. A group of delegates also participated in several of these activities, such as writing Chinese calligraphy and producing their own personalized bleach fans.

Finally, the delegation headed towards the “Linxi in My Heart” Overseas Connection Station, having informal group discussions with both Chinese and foreign individuals on-stie. These conversations did not just help the delegates get to know new friends from across the world, but also deepened their understanding of China’s experience managing small-scale communities and integrating transnational cultures. Once the activity ended, the delegates took a commemorative group photo with Linxi Community residents.
