Recently, the National Conference on the Inheritance and Education of Fine Traditional Chinese Language and Culture was held in Henan Province. Ren Youqun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, attended and delivered a speech. Song Zhenghui, Vice Governor and Member of the Party Leadership Group of Henan Provincial People's Government, was also present. The conference was hosted by Liu Peijun, Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Department of Language Information Management of the Ministry of Education. With the theme "Guarding the Soul of Traditional Chinese Language and Culture — Cultivating People through Culture, Promoting Culture through Education: Making the Beauty of Chinese Characters Respectable, Approachable, Comprehensible, and Perceptible", Lu Xiancai introduced Nanjing University's educational approaches to actively promote the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese language and culture, based on Chinese characters as the root and important carrier of fine traditional Chinese culture.

Firstly, the university innovatively launched the general education course "The Great Beauty of Chinese Characters". Led by Professor Sun Xiaoyun, Member of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History, Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and Director of the Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute of Nanjing University, and vigorously promoted by the Popularization and Promotion Center for "The Great Beauty of Chinese Characters", the course gathers renowned teachers from fields such as literature, history, philosophy, and art. It constructs a diversified growth path covering recognizing beauty, discovering beauty, appreciating beauty, displaying beauty, creating beauty, and disseminating beauty. Secondly, the university explores innovative training of top-tier talents in ancient Chinese philology. In 2020, the major of Ancient Chinese Philology in the School of Liberal Arts was selected into the first batch of the "Strong Foundation Program". With the goal of cultivating reserve talents in ancient Chinese philology with interdisciplinary academic vision, knowledge structure, and innovative capabilities, the major continuously integrates digital intelligence-related concepts, knowledge, methods, and technologies into professional education, and actively explores the new educational model of "AI + Ancient Chinese Philology". Thirdly, the university creates an influential brand for inheriting ancient Chinese document culture. Through a series of labor education courses such as "Experience of Traditional Printing and Binding and Cultural Inheritance" and various activities for inheriting ancient document culture, it promotes ancient document culture to approach young people and the world, and constantly enhances the appeal and influence of fine traditional Chinese language and culture.

Nanjing University's case titled "Integrating Language and Culture Inheritance into 'Five Educations' — Making the Beauty of Chinese Characters Respectable, Approachable, Comprehensible, and Perceptible" was selected into the 2025 Excellent Cases Collection on the Inheritance and Education of Fine Traditional Chinese Language and Culture. It provides a reference for collaborating with all sectors to innovate the inheritance path of traditional Chinese language and culture, and making the beauty of Chinese characters more perceptible and approachable in the new era.
